Bobby Panesar is UK based, international percussionist with over 18 years of experience in the music business, specialising in Tabla, Dhol and Dholak.
At the tender age of 3, Bobby's parents embraced his interest by introducing him to the disciplined environment of the classical world, and by the age of 10 had participated in Tabla competitions around the country always finishing in the Top 3. Not being able to sit still, Bobby went onto experimenting with other percussions finding himself to be open and versatile to the rhythmic world. The Dhol, became his next instrument and so, very quickly grasped technique and clarity.
Experience from touring extensively alongside Nation Records - Fun Da Mental throughout the late 90’s/ early 00’s, enabled him to achieve recognition within the World Music Scene and before he knew it was working with Peter Gabriel, Bollywood Brass Band, and DJ’s such as Bobby Friction (BBC Radio 1) all through his teenage years. After several years of teaching students, coaching band members and giving unforgettable, ecstatic performances around the world he decided a change was needed.
2004 brought a new direction to Bobby’s musical journey as he joined the UK Bhangra Scene. His electric and intricate style made jaws drop and soon was scouted to be part of the Legendary Bhangra band, Alaap. Later that year, it was also announced that he had joined the world famous band, SWAMI. In 2012, Bobby Panesar was invited to record percussion with Multi Grammy-winning producer, musician, and songwriter, RedOne, on Indian film actress, singer, winner of the Miss India World and Miss World pageants of 2000, Priyanka Chopra’s debut album. This album also features Will.I.Am and Pitbull.
2014 brought the formation of his latest musical venture where he teamed up with Sonia Panesar to create the unique sounds of Sur Sangeet.
Vinni Virdee is a very talented, charismatic and enthusiastic individual whose musical journey began right in the heart of her home. Vinni was intrigued by her father's and mother’s passion for music. Being surrounded by music along with training from Ustaad - Giani Seetal Singh Sitara Ji, meant that Vinni had the musical foundations upon which she has now gone on to build a musical reputation for herself.
Vinni’s debut in the Asian music industry was when she featured on the worldwide smash hit "Dil Nahi Lagda" with Feroz Khan. produced by UK Bhangra producer, Aman Hayer.
More recently, Vinni has had the privilege to work with Kuljit Bhamra, late Ranvir Singh Verma of Universal Taal Project, The Teasers, Pandit Vishwa Prakash ji and Craig Charles to name a few.
Vinni's passion for singing is what brings out the best in her ‘Desi' yet contemporary style to Team Sur Sangeet which she truly hopes you'll enjoy and indulge in.
